On time for the IDS 2009 in Cologne, the company BTLOCK of Vicenza has released a completely new implant in the BT TITE CV series known as the CV3. The fixture is unique in terms of it’s design features and is amongst the best on the market that can at present be found. After the insertion of several hundred CV3 implants the clinical response has been overwhelmingly positive.
The manufacturer has remained with the conical cylindrical shape and rounded apex whose atraumatic form makes it ideal for sinus lifts. The geometry of the progressive threads, with slightly compressive thread flanks is maintained similar to CV1 and provides outstanding initial stability in bone D3-D4.The 6 longitudinal grooves give the implant a unique appearance. The grooves start below the micro threads and continue to the tip. Three grooves are for stabilization while three are for cutting. This means the two different types of grooves each have their own quite distinct geometry. These faces give the implant a high cutting efficiency even in for hard bone.
The fixture is so efficient at self-cutting, that one can place it in D1 bone without any problems using the motor set at a torque setting of 35Ncm. The clinician has a clear feeling that the fixture behaves atraumatically in bone. The management, security, flexibility and ease of insertion are quite astounding. The collecting of bone chips in the longitudinal stabilizing grooves, which are wide open, benefits the fixture in all bone qualities from D1 to D4.
The neck has micro threads as in the CV2 which has proved itself in soft and hard tissue integration. The design of the implant platform is new. The manufacturer has opted for integrated platform switching with the structured surface of the implant also present on the bevel of the platform. Thus, each user is forced to take into account the platform switching. When ordering, it is necessary to specify the number 3 behind the existing order to obtain the specific component for CV 3 (eg, cover screw, healing abutment or prosthetic superstructure components) . The surface structure will also aid in the soft and hard tissue integration where subcrestal positioning of the implant has taken place.
The new surface of the CV3 implant, will soon be available for Standard, CV1 and CV2. The DMA nanostructure is the result of sand blasting and double etching We await a new loading protocol as the healing phase has been significantly reduced. The surface is hydrophilic which is also of importance in the early integration.
Following the introduction of the CV3 the BTlock company has once again demonstrated its ability to innovate. With this new implant that fully meets the demands of science, one may now expect both enhanced security and a raised success rate when applying the CV3 fixture. For these innovations, users merely pay 12 € more for the fixture than for the CV2. A very fair price and a great cost to performance ratio.
